What is the Stark Federal Credit Union?

Stark Federal Credit Union has been serving members since 1961. We now service over 11,000 members. According to a recent survey, our members rated our staff high in accuracy and friendliness. We are also one of the fastest growing credit unions in Ohio.  Our members even rated us higher than other members did in other credit unions.

What is a Credit Union?

A credit union is a group of people with a permit to do business with each other. A business of saving their money in a common fund, and of making loans to the members from that fund. While big bank chains often cater to their customers that are most profitable, the credit union philosophy has always been one of equality and personal service.

Its basic objectives are to teach and encourage thrift among members and, through their combined savings, extend to members low cost credit for any worthwhile purpose.

How can I join Stark Federal Credit Union?

You are eligible to join if you live, work, worship or attend school in Stark or Carroll Counties.  Just stop in to any one of our three offices with your ID and the minimum $5.00 minimum deposit.  We would love to have you as a member!

Who owns Stark Federal Credit Union?

You do!  As a member own the credit union, you are not a customer at your credit union. You are an OWNER.

Who establishes Credit Union policies?

A Board of Directors elected from the membership by the members, has the general direction and control of its affairs. It sets the policy under which the officers and committees operate.

A Credit Committee is elected by the members to review the loan applications.

A Supervisory Committee is appointed by the Board of Directors to audit internal affairs. Our Supervisory committee audits our Credit Union records annually. This is in addition to our federal examination.

An Education Committee decides upon marketing and promotional aspects of the Credit Union. They are charged with keeping our members up to date on and with the organization.

The board and committee members receive no pay for their service.

Stark Federal Credit Union is chartered under the laws of the United States of America and is affiliated with the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) and the Ohio Credit Union League.
