There's
Gold
in your Trash
Criminals are winning at the dumpster
by obtaining your personal information such as credit card numbers,
social security numbers, signatures, and SFCU statements. Armed with
even a few bits of information, thieves can assume your identity, open
accounts in your name, go on thousand dollar shopping sprees, and steal
checks.
Do not throw anything into your trash
that contains personal information about you, such as your name, social
security number, checking, savings, or credit card numbers. This
includes solicitations for pre-approved credit cards.
If you have a shredder, shred these
documents immediately, or otherwise destroy them completely. When in
doubt, destroy. Information is better than gold to thieves!
